I chose cyanotype because it thrives on unpredictability. The process itself imposes constraints: light exposure, chemical sensitivity, and the absorbency of different surfaces—all of which shape the final outcome in ways I can’t fully control.

Mistakes become part of the artwork: uneven coating, overexposure, unexpected textures, and even the occasional chemical reaction all contribute to the piece. The medium invites endless experimentation of layering, toning, wet cyanotypes, fabric printing, each producing unique, unrepeatable results.

Its simplicity allows for rapid creation, yet every print carries its own fingerprint of time, light, and material.

Cyanotype is both limiting and limitless, and that tension is what makes it exciting.
